Ducati is working on something out of the box. According to leaks, the company is working on a motorcycle wheel which has a rubber centre so the wheel itself can handle a few of the shocks from the ground.
To keep the Ducati motorcycles high tech, Claudio Domenicali who is the Chief Executive of Ducati is continuously working on new engineering developments. The latest being a rubberised centre within the wheel that will act like a shock absorber. This will reduce the stress on the shock absorbers and could lead to a smoother ride.
There are a number of motorcycle manufacturers who already mount the engine on rubber but Ducati will be the first to do so with the wheel. The leaked patent images show what is called ‘elastically yielding material’ encased within the hub. Rumours also suggest that this will reduce the bumps felt from the road and increase the handling abilities of the bike.
