- 53,004 motorcycles were sold last year
- In 2017, it delivered 55,871 units worldwide
- Sales of motorcycles above 500cc declined in the USA
Ducati Motor Holding witnessed a drop of 5 per cent in its worldwide sales in 2018. It sold 53,004 units last year as opposed to the 55,871 motorcycles in 2017. This is owing to the slump in the sales of motorcycles above 500cc in the USA, which is one of Ducati’s biggest markets.
However, the Italian brand saw its sales graph moving upwards in a few European and Asian markets. The company managed to sell 9,200 motorcycles in Italy which accounted for a 4.5 per cent growth as compared to the previous year sales figures. Subsequently, Ducati also did well in Spain, registering an 8 per cent growth. Similarly, in the Chinese market, Ducati recorded 29 per cent increase and also further expanded its dealership network.
Ducati launched the Panigale V4 last year which has received a good response from the market. Powered by a V4 engine for the first time, the company managed to sell 6100 units of the V4 out of the total 9700 units sold from the Panigale family. On the other hand, the Multistrada range also saw a positive growth of 25 per cent registering a total sale of 11,829 units.
Notably, we contacted Ducati India for sales figures, but no information was shared from their end regarding the same.
