Ducati India has announced the launch of the XDiavel Black Star and XDiavel Dark in our market with prices starting from Rs 18 lakh onwards. The latest iterations of the XDiavel range get a BS6-compliant motor and here we list the top five highlights of the Italian power cruiser series.
Design
Both variants of the Ducati XDiavel range feature a similar design, although they are distinguished through their respective colour themes. Thus, the XDiavel Black Star and XDiavel Dark feature a sweptback handlebar, forward-set footpegs, a muscular fuel tank, a distinctively shaped headlight, a step-up seat, a chopped tail, and tyre hugger-mounted rear turn indicators and number plate holder. The single-sided swingarm and compact exhaust canisters give a clean look from the sides. The Dark variant of the power cruiser features a black look to the mechanical components, plates, and finishes.
Engine
The mechanical specifications are identical on both variants. The BS6-compliant 1262cc, L-Twin, liquid-cooled ‘Testastretta’ motor produces 157.8hp of power at 9,500rpm and 127Nm of peak torque at 5,000rpm. The output figures on the BS6 model are 7.89bhp and 1.96Nm higher than the BS4 model. Ducati says that it has adopted an updated silencer layout, and a new engine calibration to comply with the new emission regulations.
Features
The standard equipment on both variants include Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), riding modes, power modes, cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, full-LED lighting, Ducati Power Launch, cruise control, backlit handlebar switches, and a 3.5” TFT colour display. The new XDiavel motorcycles are backed by a 24-month/unlimited mileage warranty with maintenance intervals of 15,000km.
Hardware
The hardware on the XDiavel Dark includes adjustable 50mm upside-down front forks, twin 320mm semi-floating front discs, Brembo M4.32 radial mono-bloc callipers, and die-cast wheels in light alloy. The XDiavel Black Star, on the other hand, gets adjustable 50mm upside-down front forks with DLC treatment, forged rims painted in gloss black, twin 320mm semi-floating front discs, and Brembo M50 radial mono-bloc callipers. The Black Star also gets a suede fabric seat and Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) as standard.
Variants, Colours, and Prices
As mentioned above, the XDiavel range comprises two variants – Dark and Black Star. The dual-paint theme on the XDiavel Black Star is inspired by the world of sports cars. The dedicated livery alternates grey and matte black colours with highlights of red. The Black Star variant also gets bright red paint on its engine cover. The XDiavel Dark, in contrast, features a stealthy look with its matte black paint. The Dark variant also uses a black colour for its mechanical components. The XDiavel Dark is available at Rs 18 lakh while the XDiavel Black Star has been listed at Rs 22.60 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
