A couple of days ago, we reported about Ducati’s intention of showcasing two new models at the World Ducati Week. And it looks like, one of them is an all-new bike called Supersport S.
A bike was kept on display inside a covered preview room with name ‘Project 1312’ on it. In order to keep things exclusive for the Ducati fans who were attending the WDW, no camera phones or camera were allowed inside. But thanks to a person, the world now knows about the Supersport S. Interestingly, MCN got a chance to talk to the product manager of Project 1312.
As per the Ducati official, this bike is a complete new bike built for the road. It gets the trellis frame from the Monster and the XDiavel. In terms of engine, the displacement stands at 939cc, just like the Hypermotord 939, but in this new bike’s case, the engine acts as a stressed member and has been heavily tuned to meet the bike’s road going purpose. The Supersport S gets the same level of electronics that we see on other Ducatis – three rider modes, 8-level traction control and the cluster is also equipped with Ducati multimedia system that we see on the Multistrada.
Ducati will be offering this model in two versions – Supersport and the Supersport S. The main difference between the two is that the S version will get Ohlins suspension setup and a removable rear seat cowl. With these two bikes, Ducati is targeting a set of customers who wants to own a practical and versatile sportsbike and who’re not really into track riding.
We’re expecting Ducati to officially unveil and launch the Supersport and the Supersport S at the 2016 EICMA. Good news for us is that, both the bikes will eventually come to India officially.
