Erik Buell Racing unveiled their latest creation, the 1190SX naked superbike based on the 1190R platform last month at the Indianpolis Motor Speedway. But the company didn’t disclose any technical specifications of the motorcycle during this unveiling. EBR has now launched this naked superbike at USD 16,996 (Rs 10.2 lakh) for the American market and has also revealed the specifications.
The overall styling of the 1190SX is very close to that of the fully-faired sibling. Only difference is a different headlight cow and lack of fairing. Clip-on handlebar has been replaced by the traditional wide handle bar for upright riding position.
The EBR 1190SX inherits the engine from the super sport model. The 1190cc liquid-cooled v-twin engine produces 185bhp at 10,600rpm and peak torque of 137.8Nm at 8,200rpm. With such a power figure, the 1190SX has become world’s most powerful production naked motorcycle, beating the KTM 1290 Super Duke by a decent marking. The bike will be available in US dealerships by second week of July and will be available in three colour options – red, white and black.
