For those who felt that the 2015 Aprilia RSV4 R was too mediocre, the Italian manufacturer has unveiled a new ‘factory works’ version of the superbike. Packing 230 horsepower and a host of technical updates, the RSV4 Factory Works 'Misano' is one of the most extreme and track-focussed versions of the bike that money can buy.
Based on the Aprilia RSV4 RR, the factory works version comes equipped with a race pack, which gets fully adjustable Ohlins suspension and forged rims. The stock battery has been replaced with a lighter one, while the ECU has been reprogrammed. The power output of the 1000cc 65-degree V4 engine can be bumped up to 230 horsepower. A race-spec Akrapovic exhaust system allows the bike to breathe more freely, while all the unnecessary bits, including the mirrors, rear seat and the footpegs, have been ditched. The loud orange, green and silver livery complements the motorcycle’s racy character.
A brainchild of Aprilia’s official racing division, the RSV4 Factory Works ‘Misano’ has been created to give regular customers a taste of what a WSBK-spec race bike feels like. Armed with a racetrack-optimised setup, the RSV4 Factory Works is also fit to compete in factory derivative championships for professional racers. In case the owner wishes to take the bike racing, Aprilia will customise the motorcycle to comply with the championship regulations of the owner’s country. Aprilia seems to be keeping the price of this version a closely guarded secret; one which will be revealed to a select few amongst Aprilia’s uber rich clientele.
