177bhp at 9750rpm powering 195kg of motorcycle. That's all you'll need to know about the Super Duke R. Oh, and it would bite your head off if it weren't for the taming electronics.
The current Super Duke already offers power wheelies in fourth gear - fourth gear! - and the R has even more power. It's also got 6kg more, but that won't tame the beast, believe us. You'll know it's an R by the running lamps - they're orange - and the panels, as skimpy as they were, have now even less real estate. On display instead is most of the trellis frame.
The Super Duke R gets keyless ignition, a colour display, and an optional 'My Ride' multimedia system with hands-free connectivity for smartphones and media players. You can also opt for a Performance pack, which offers Motor Slip Regulation (like a slipper clutch), quickshifter, and My Ride. Opt for the Track pack and you'll have selectable engine mapping, switchable anti-wheelie, MTC slip control and launch control. What is standard is MSC, or stability control, MTC (traction control), Bosch cornering ABS, and a supermoto mode that turns the ABS off at the rear but retains it at the front, and three rider modes. The suspension is new as well - there are heavier spring rates for the 48mm front WP fork, and at the rear as well the spring rate is stiffer.
There's no plan for the Super Duke R to go on sale in India, but we know we'll dream of fourth gear power wheelies tonight, that's for sure.
