The smallest Duke also managed to get some major upgrades at the ongoing 2016 EICMA Show. The Duke 125 gets a new frame, major revisions in the styling department and some expensive components.
It’s no doubt that the new Duke 125 looks like its eldest sibling – the 1290 Super Duke and that’s not a bad thing at all. Aggressive fascia, exposed side area and a very sharp tail makes this 125cc motorcycle look big and premium. The Duke 125 gets sharper body panels, 43mm WP fork suspension at the front and Bybre callipers – things which we usually see in much bigger bikes. The Bosch 9.1MB switchable dual-channel ABS comes as standard.
The 125cc single-cylinder engine is now Euro-4 compliant and continues to produce 15bhp. The exhaust on the new Duke 125 has moved to the side, and it is much better for it. It gives a slightly bulky look to this small displacement bike. There’s a new TFT instrument cluster that hosts all the ride information needed. KTM is offering the MY RIDE hands-free multimedia with this bike as an option. The Austrian manufacturer has revised the rider and passenger seats as well to offer more comfort.
This new KTM Duke 125 will be made at Bajaj’s Chakan facility and sold in Europe, where it meets learner licence requirements.
