Since it was launched two years ago, the Scrambler range has set the cash registers ringing for the Italian manufacturer. Keen on keeping the momentum going, Ducati recently announced plans to unveil a bigger litre-class version of the bike, christened Scrambler 1100. Now, the motorcycle has been revealed ahead of its debut at the EICMA Show, thanks to a few leaked studio shots of the motorcycle.
The Scrambler 1100 sports the same classic styling that is its biggest appeal, along with twin underseat exhaust and a redesigned instrument console. The chassis is different, and looks beefed up to handle the extra power. At the heart of the Scrambler 1100 is a 1087cc oil-cooled L-twin engine, similar to the one that powered the old Monster 1100. Power output is expected to be north of 100bhp, with reports suggesting that it will also be available in a sportier ‘S’ guise, featuring Ohlins suspension bits. It rides on spoke wheels and Pirelli dual sport tyres.
Like the smaller Scrambler, the Scrambler 1100 is also expected to be offered in different avatars. It is also expected to get riding modes, which is missing in its smaller siblings. The Scrambler 1100 will compete against the BMW R nineT and the Triumph Bonneville T120.
