Honda has released a teaser image of the bike, confirming earlier reports of an upgraded Africa Twin for next year.
The 2018 Africa Twin is expected to have better off-roading capabilities than the current model along with slight cosmetic changes. Although the teaser image doesn’t reveal much, the bike is expected to draw inspiration from the Africa Twin Adventure Sports Concept that was unveiled last year
The bike will get a revised set of LED headlamps, a new paint scheme, an upswept exhaust, a redesigned flat seat and a few minor body changes to adjust the bigger 22-litre fuel tank. The image also reveals that the bike gets a crash guard around the body panels with knobby tyres and new spoke wheels. The bike is also expected to feature a skid plate and luggage rack. All of these upgrades have made the bike 13kg heavier than the current model. It will also feature a higher screen, making the 2018 Africa Twin taller at 1570mm.
Meanwhile, there have been no revelations about the engine and the bike is expected to use the same 999cc twin-cylinder liquid cooled engine. This unit produces 86bhpand 91Nm of torque. The Africa Twin was launched in India this year and the first lot of 50 motorcycles have been sold out. While the 2018 model will be revealed in Milan at EICMA, we can expect the bike to arrive on Indian shores sometime next year.
