Italian manufacturer Moto Guzzi unveiled the V85 concept; a completely new adventure-touring motorcycle at the EICMA.
Moto Guzzi is aptly calling the V85 a ‘Classic Enduro’ as the bike gets modern features in a classic body shape. Although the bike’s paint scheme makes it look like it would be used for a cross-country McDonald’s delivery (the only bit missing is the red top-box), they hark back to the manufacturer’s Baja machines from the ‘80s.
The bike gets a high mudguard, twin headlamps with an LED strip in the shape of the manufacturer’s logo, spoke wheels, tail rack, an upswept exhaust, and fork protectors. The V85 gets Ohlins inverted forks at the front and a Ohlins monoshock at the rear. It also sports an asymmetric swingarm that houses the new shaft drive transmission.
The V85 sports a new 850cc V-twin engine that will be a base for future motorcycles which will sit between the V7, V9 and 1400cc cruisers. This engine produces 80bhp which is a considerable increase over the power output of V9 bikes sold here. The V9’s 853cc V-twin engine produces only 55bhp.
Moto Guzzi has not confirmed the timeline for the production of the bike. However, the concept looks production ready and we can expect it to be unveiled sometime next year.
