After teasing the world with the 790 Duke prototype last year, KTM has now unveiled the production ready bike.
The 790 Duke follows the same design language that started off with the 2017 KTM 390 Duke. It uses a steel trellis frame and aluminium sub-frame with the 799cc parallel-twin engine as a stressed member. This engine produces 105bhp and 86Nm of torque. The bike weighs a meagre 169kg dry giving it a colossal power to weight ratio.
The bike uses 43mm inverted forks by WP and a pre-load adjustable, gas-assisted monoshock. Braking is done by twin 300mm discs in the front while the rear gets a 240mm single disc.
Its electronics package includes cornering ABS with a ‘supermoto mode’ that disengages the ABS when you are in the mood for some hooliganism. It also gets lean-sensitive traction control, riding modes that include a customisable ‘Track’ mode and a launch control system.
KTM has also equipped the bike with a quickshifter, full-colour TFT dash like the one on the 390 Duke, adjustable handlebars and a WP steering damper. The bike will go on sale in international markets next year. Disappointingly, we don’t expect to see this pocket rocket in India anytime soon.
