Yamaha has revealed the updated version of their adventure touring motorcycle, the Tracer 900. The manufacturer has also revealed a more touring focused motorcycle based on the Tracer 900 called the Tracer 900 GT.
Both the bikes are based on the streetfighter MT-09 and use the same 847cc in-line three cylinder engine that produces 113.4bhp at 10,000rpm and 87.5Nm at 8,500rpm. This unit is mated to a six-speed transmission and slipper clutch. The bikes get a longer aluminium swingarm and a revised rear shock setting to improve its touring capabilities.
The 2018 Tracer 900 gets a manually adjustable windscreen, revised footrests and pillion grab bars. The front end is new with redesigned fuel tank panels and a new air intake duct which makes the bike look a bit sharper than the outgoing model. It also features narrower handlebars and a newly-designed seat.
The Tracer 900 GT gets an updated electronics package. It gets a full-colour TFT instrument cluster that displays gear indicator, coolant temperature, ambient temperature, current riding mode, fuel gauge and fuel consumption apart from the basic information. The Tracer 900 GT also borrows the cruise control system from the MT-10.
Suspension duties on the sport tourer are taken care of by 41mm fully adjustable front forks and a preload adjustable monoshock, both borrowed from the MT-09. The Tracer 900 GT being more touring focused also sports 22-litre panniers as standard.
Both these bikes will be available in international markets from early next year and are highly unlikely to come to India anytime soon.
