- New F850GS unveiled
- Gets new bodywork, chassis, engine
- India launch next year
BMW Motorrad has finally taken the wraps off its latest adventure bike, the 2019 F850GS Adventure.
This middleweight adventure bike has been completely redesigned and reengineered to meet the modern-world needs. It carries the typical GS design but gets more modern touches and finish. As per the company a lot of focus has been given to make the bike slim for the rider to make his life easy in difficult trails. It is built around a new steel bridge frame which holds the new 853cc water-cooled engine. This engine produces 95bhp at 8250rpm and peak torque of 92Nm at 6250rpm. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox that transfers the power to the rear wheel chain drive.
It also gets new upside-down telescopic forks along with double-sided swingarm. It gets new on-board electrical system with a more powerful alternator and starter. LED headlamp comes as standard. But there’s also an option to go for LED daytime running light for an additional cost. The 6.5-inch TFT display shows tonnes of information. It is also equipped with intelligent emergency call feature as an optional equipment. The 23-litres fuel tank gets a range of close to 550kms which is quite impressive.
The bike is loaded with latest electronics like multiple riding modes, ABS and ASC. The rain and road modes come as standard. There’s an option to go for dynamic, enduro and endure pro modes as optional equipment.
The new F850GS Adventure will make its way to India sometime next year as a completely-built-up(CBU) unit. But expect it to come with a premium price tag. It will go against the segment leader, the Triumph Tiger 800 range in the country.
