- New riding position
- SP is more performance focused
- Revised engine has shed 1.5kg
The Hypermotard was always a fun bike, but Ducati decided to have it keep up with the times and as a result, the 2019 Hypermotard 950 has less weight, more power and revisions to bits that will help make it more fun.
First, the seating position has been revised – the flatter, wider handlebar contributes to that, and it makes it even easier to flick it into turns. The seat is flatter, has an extended profile, and better passenger comfort. The SP, which is the performance variant, has a completely flat seat which will help the rider move around better. The 937cc L-twin engine has shed 1.5kg and gained 4bhp more, bringing the peak output to 114bhp and 96Nm. Valve adjustment intervals are now at 30,000km.
The standard Hypermotard 950 has as standard power modes for the engine, daytime running lamps, the new tapered aluminium handlebar, removable passenger footpegs and a USB socket. Opt for the SP, and you can add to that list the DQS two-way quickshifter, Marchesini forged wheels, and carbonfibre front mudguard and timing belt covers.
The Hypermotard 950 will get a bump in price thanks to the new feature set and more engineering that has gone into it, but it still stands in a field of one since there is no true supermoto on sale with similar specs or pricing. The Hypermotard 950 should debut in the Indian market in the first quarter of 2019.
