BMW has unveiled the 2019 models of its naked roadster - R1250 R, and sports tourer - R1250 RS, at the EICMA 2018. The motorcycles have received major changes on the engine and in terms of electronics for 2019.
Both the bikes are now powered by a 1254cc, air/liquid cooled, twin-cylinder engine which has seen a hike in its power figures. The 2019 models generate 134bhp of power at 7750 rpm and 143Nm of torque at 6250rpm. The outgoing models get 1170cc motor that churns out 123bhp and 125Nm. The company claims the engine has been upgraded for better fuel efficiency and refinement.
The motorcycles have also been improved in terms of electronics. They come with an optional equipment called Riding Modes Pro which provides the rider with two extra riding modes; dynamic and dynamic pro which is configurable as per rider’s preference. Other electronic aids include dynamic traction control, dynamic brake control and ABS Pro. Moreover, the motorcycle also gets LED DRLs as an optional fitment.
All the information is displayed on the new 6.5-inch full-colour TFT display which gets Bluetooth connectivity as standard. The 2019 BMW R1250 R and R1250 RS will be available in their three basic colour options along with an additional Option 718 Special paint finish.
The current models of the R1200 R and R1200 RS are retailed in India at Rs 14.90 lakhs and Rs 15.40 lakhs (ex-showroom), respectively. The new R1250 R and R1250 RS will see a marginal price hike.
