- Kawasaki quick shifter comes as standard
Kawasaki has unveiled the 2019 version of its supersport offering, the ZX-6R at the EICMA 2018 in Milan, Italy. The motorcycle gets cosmetic changes along with tweaks on its engine and electronics.
The 2019 model gets revised front section and fairing while the tail section is also new. The headlamp and tail lamp are both LED units on the new version. It gets a restyled windscreen and exhaust and the overall silhouette follows the design cues of its bigger sibling, the ZX-10R.
The 2019 ZX-6R is powered by a bigger 636cc, in-line four, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 126bhp of power and 70.6Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox which is accompanied by the Kawasaki quick shifter (KQS) as standard. The engine is compliant with Euro 4 emission norms.
The motorcycle is based on the tubular diamond frame which is suspended on 41mm Showa SFF big piston forks on the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by dual 310mm petal discs on the front and a single 210mm petal disc at the rear. It runs on the Battlax Hypersport S22 tyres.
Pre-bookings for the bike have already commenced in India and it will be launched by early 2019. It will face no direct competition due to the absence of supersport bikes in the Indian market.
