- 2019 790 Adventure debuts
- Gets Dakar-inspired bodywork
- Will go on sale in the next few weeks
After taking us through a series of teaser videos, KTM has finally unveiled its new adventure bike, the 790 Adventure. This bike was unveiled at the ongoing 2018 EICMA Show.
This new ADV is built around an all-new platform which also houses a brand new engine. The company claims that this bike was developed after listening to its customers who wanted a manageable and accessible middleweight adventure bike. The 790 Adventure is powered by a new 799cc parallel-twin engine that churns out 95bhp.
The 790 Adventure comes with various seat options and six handlebar mount position. It is further loaded with multiple riding modes along with ABS and Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC). MTC is KTM’s lean angle sensitive traction control system that reacts immediately if the rotational speed of the rear wheel is disproportionate to the riding situation. There’s cornering ABS as well. This KTM is equipped with a ‘Rally mode’. In this mode, the rider can adapt to the character of the bike more freely. Slip adjust can be changed in 9 levels, varying from an intervention level 9 (comparable to rain mode) to hardly any intervention at level 1, with 7 steps in between. With these settings, the slip adjust can be very precisely matched to the condition of the surface, the skill level of the rider and the requirements of the ride.
The 790 Adventure will go on sale in the next few weeks. Will it come to India? Well, it's likely. There are rumours suggesting that the 790 Duke will be launched in India. If it does, then there’s a chance of this adventure bike coming to India as well, but at a premium pricing.
