Yamaha globally unveiled a track-focussed version of the YZF-R3 called the R3 GYTR at the on-going EICMA 2018.
The bike has been built as part of the manufacturer’s GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) program. While the front end is similar to the standard YZF-R3, save the faux headlamps, the rear end is completely revised. It gets a racing seat with a bum-stopper on the rear seat cowl. The seating position is also more aggressive thanks to the rear set foot pegs and lower handlebars.
Apart from the cosmetics, the R3 GYTR sports top-spec braking and suspension hardware to make it more capable on track. It gets inverted forks and a monoshock sourced from Ohlins.Meanwhile stopping power has been sourced from Brembo. Yamaha has also equipped the bike with a GYTR engine kit that complies with the 2019 SSP 300 championship rules wherein it would compete. There also is a high-performance Febur radiator and to top it off, a titanium exhaust from Akrapovic.
The R3 GYTR sports the distinctive Yamaha blue colour with white stripe on the fairing. Unfortunately, the bike or the GYTR program are unlikely to be introduced in India anytime in the near future.
