 Exclusive! Bajaj Pulsar NS400 revealed

-Production bike spotted

-Evolution of the Pulsar NS200 design

-Expected to be powered by the Dominar 400’s engine

With barely a couple of days to go for the official launch of the Bajaj Pulsar NS400, the images of the final production bike are out. The image reveals the design and other details of what will be the biggest Pulsar yet.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400 has a design that looks like an evolution of the Pulsar NS200. It looks like a proper streetfighter, with a muscular tank that bears resemblance to the NS200’s. The tank extensions are new and appear to be much larger than the NS200’s. This particular bike has a black colour with contrasting, red and grey stickers on the headlight cowl, tank extensions,  belly pan, tail section and even on the wheels.

Also, as we’ve seen in previous spy shots, the bike has a new headlight cluster consisting of an LED projector light and thunderbolt style DRLs. The side and tail section, meanwhile, are sleeker and sharper-looking than the NS200.

While some enthusiasts are disappointed about the NS400 looking similar to the NS200, one has to consider that Bajaj has done so for two reasons. One is to reduce development costs to arrive at a competitive price point and second to stick to the NS’ family design theme.

Under the bodywork is a perimeter frame suspended by a  gold coloured USD fork and monoshock. It also has a simple, box section swingarm, again hinting at Bajaj's attempt to keep the price of the Pulsar NS400 as low as possible. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels shod with what looks like MRF tyres. The rear tyre seems to be a 140-section type, adding to the stance of the bike. As for the brakes, it seems to have a 320mm front disc with axially mounted calipers.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400 will have a lot of features including a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, ABS modes and it may also have a traction control system.

Lastly, the engine in the bike appears to be taken from the Dominar 400. It is a 373cc, liquid-cooled, single cylinder unit that makes 40bhp and 35Nm, and is paired with a six speed gearbox. However, unlike the Dominar 400's side slung exhaust, the Pulsar NS400 has an underbelly exhaust.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is expected to be priced at a competitive price and is likely to be the most affordable 400cc segment bike in the country. It should be priced between Rs 2 lakh - Rs 2.20 lakh.
