We were the first ones to bring you the spy pictures of Bajaj’s new motorcycle which will be launched under a new brand. And once again, we bring you detailed information on this new motorcycle.

Bajaj has released a TV commercial today, teasing certain details of this new bike. Made from the remains of INS Vikrant, this motorcycle is being marketed under the brand ‘V’, which basically means Vikrant. But the company is tightlipped about the exact name. It is called the Bajaj V150 and this bike will sit between the Discover and the Pulsar brand in terms of pricing and positioning.

In our previous articles, we mentioned that the bike has something special about it. Certain components of the V150 are being forged from the remains of the INS Vikrant – one of the best aircraft carriers India ever had. But the metal from the INS Vikrant is limited, so will the production period for this bike. The Bajaj V150 will be marketed as a very special bike for the initial couple of years. Bajaj has taken this approach to make its presence felt in the executive commuter segment. It figured it had to do something different and unique to build a new brand and that’s why we’ve the INS Vikrant in picture.

Bajaj will launch cheaper and regular versions of the V150, once the metal runs out. In terms of styling, Bajaj, for the first time has taken a very different approach for its commuter segment. The bike in the teaser sports a single seat, making us believe that Bajaj will offer seat customisations. Except the headlamp unit, everything else like the alloy wheels, muscular fuel tank, beefy exhaust, tail assembly resembles the prototypes which we shot a couple of weeks ago. The overall ergonomics of the bike isn’t an upright one, thanks to the longer fuel tank and low set handlebar. We can see little café racer inspiration here but let’s see how the final product looks like.

Powering the V150 is a 150cc single-cylinder oil cooled engine that powers the Discover 150F. This engine will churn out 14.3bhp and 13Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to a five-speed gearbox. Expect Bajaj to focus little less on the fuel efficiency part with the V150.

In terms of pricing, we’re expecting the Bajaj V150 to be priced marginally above the Discover F. But will this new brand help Bajaj take on Hero and Honda? Only time, product and pricing will tell.

Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more information on the new Bajaj V150.
