- Heavily updated model of the Jawa Standard
- To get the bigger 334cc engine
- Could get a revised chassis too
Jawa Motorcycles is prepping to launch a new motorcycle called the Jawa 350 in India soon. This will be the heavily updated version of the Jawa Standard, or as the company likes to call it as of now, the Jawa Jawa.
As per our sources, the inclusion of the ‘350’ suffix is due to its 294.72cc engine being replaced by the bigger 334cc mill. This is the same powerplant that is present in the Jawa 42 Bobber and Perak. However, the company may have revised the fuel map of the engine to alter the riding experience by making it more tractable and less peaky than the Bobber and Perak. The power and torque output figures might also be slightly different than the existing iteration of this motor which, in the present state of tune, makes 30.2bhp and 32.74Nm.
The renaming of the bike should work well in the favour of the brand since the Jawa Standard’s closest rivals also have the ‘350’ suffix and it makes the new bike sound like a more fitting contender in this segment. Moreover, it also gives away the bump in the engine displacement.
We assume that the company may have also revised the chassis of the Jawa Standard to accommodate the bigger engine. There could be other hardware revisions as well, the nature of which isn’t known to us as of now. Moreover, Jawa might throw in some new features to the mix along with a few subtle cosmetic changes. New paint schemes might also be on offer but the signature maroon trim, with a heavy dose of chrome, should certainly be retained.
The Jawa 350 will be more expensive than the Jawa Standard which costs Rs. 1.81 lakh (single-channel ABS) and Rs. 2.03 lakh (dual-channel ABS), ex-showroom. Now, it remains to be seen how big a price hike it will receive. The motorcycle will continue to lock horns with the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Honda CB350.
