- Family scooter under development
- Will be called Aprilia Comfort
- Will be powered by a 125cc engine
Piaggio India has big plans for 2019. It will first launch the Aprilia Storm 125, a sportier and more youthful version of the SR 125, followed by the launch of a new family scooter.
According to our sources, the Italian maker is developing a new scooter which will be positioned as a family scooter. It will sport a non-aggressive design language that is a first for the brand in India. A lot of focus is being put on making the scooter as comfortable as possible. So things like large seat, bigger floorboard and plenty of luggage space will be seen on this upcoming scooter. It will be called the Aprilia Comfort – a name that goes well with the overall nature of the scooter.
This scooter will use the 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor from the SR 125. The motor and the CVT will be retuned to match the scooter’s nature. A few cycle parts like switchgear, instrument cluster and grab rail will be borrowed from the SR range.
The company plans to take on the TVS NTorq 125 and the Suzuki Access 125 with this scooter. So expect a competitive price tag. This Aprilia is likely to be launched in August 2019, so the company could get good numbers in the festive season.
