Piaggio India will launch two new Vespa scooters – the Vespa SXL and the Vespa VXL for the Indian market tomorrow. These scooters will be launched by the company’s new global brand ambassador, and football player, Alessandro Del Piero. We bring you some exclusive pictures of the duo before the launch.
Like we said in our previous article, the company won’t get a new product to India, but will give cosmetic additions to the current line-up. These two new models will be sold as new variants in India. The Vespa SXL gets a giddy blue colour, digital instrument cluster and bigger tyres. This variant will be available in other colours as well. The VXL variant also gets a new instrument cluster, new alloy wheels, new tyres and this stately metallic grey colour. This scooter is available in the other colours as well.
Mechanically, there are no changes to the scooter. It continues to be powered by the same 125cc single-cylinder engine that produces 10bhp at 7500rpm and peak torque of 10.6Nm at 6000rpm.This engine transfers power to the rear wheel via a CVT gearbox.
We are expecting these scooters to be priced Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 more than the regular variants. Both the models will bring in excitement to its current line-up, that’s been on sale for two years now.
