It's just been a fortnight since Suzuki India spoke about its intention of focusing on premium products. And now, there’s already a big development. Suzuki will launch its middle-weight naked motorcycle, the GSX-S750 at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo.
As per our sources, Suzuki will also showcase the V-Strom 650 along with the GSX-S750. However, the main focus will be on the 750cc streetbike at this biennial event. The middle-weight adventure bike will be launched a month later and will take the Kawasaki Versys 650 head on. In order to price it competitively, Suzuki will assemble both the bikes India through completely-knocked-down(CKD) route. While the GSX-S750 will be priced lower than the Kawasaki Z900, the V-Strom 650 will be priced on-par with the Kawasaki Versys 650.
The GSX-S750 looks like a smaller version of the incredibly fast GSX-S1000, thanks to the similar bodywork and styling. It gets its power from a 749cc liquid-cooled inline-four motor that churns out 113bhp at 10,500rpm. Gearbox is six-speed that transfers power to the rear-wheel via a chain drive. Just like its elder sibling, this motorcycle is loaded with ABS and multi-level traction control system.
The V-Strom follows the design language as its litre-class brother, the V-Strom 1000. It is powered by a 650cc liquid-cooled V-Twin. Just like most of the bikes, the V-Strom 650 too gets a host of electronis. So things like ABS, traction control system are standard. The V-Strom is available in two variants, standard and V-Strom 650XT. The XT is additionally equipped with hand guards, engine protection and spoke-wheels. Suzuki is looking to launch the XT version in India but will take a final call depending on the consumer response at the 2018 Auto Expo.
