Triumph Motorcycles is on a roll. After making some major updates on the Tiger 800XC series, the company is now focussing on its naked superbike range. Few weeks ago, we reported about an updated Street Triple being tested and now the father of its naked range, the Speed Triple was spied testing in Spain.
The test mule wasn’t camouflaged and that made us see some new changes. It gets a new fuel tank and different radiator side covers. There is an addition of a new ram-air scoop in the fly screen, which might marginally provide a boost in power. The tail unit has also been revised, making it less bulky than the current generation. Talking about the braking power, the test mule sports Brembo monobloc brakes that are used on the current higher-spec Speed Triple R model. Also, it looks like the dual seat unit used on the current bike has been replaced with separate rider and pillion seats.
We are expecting the British manufacturer won’t play with the engine. It will continue to be powered by a liquid-cooled three-cylinder 1050cc engine, which churns out 133bhp and 111Nm of torque. The fuel-injected unit is connected to a six-speed manual gearbox with a wet multiplate clutch and a lightweight three-into-two exhaust system.
The updated Triumph Speed Triple will surely make its way to India after its global unveil. The company could marginally increase the price of this bike in India but that might affect its already dwindling sales.
