- Fascino only Yamaha to grow last May
- Sales increased by just 2 per cent
Yamaha’s stylish scooter, the Fascino has become the only Yamaha product that registered growth in May. The Japanese brand sold 15,459 units of this scooter last month as against 15,132 units last year.
The two per cent growth could be a result of decent demand for this Yamaha as it’s the only scooter in the segment that offers a combination of premium styling and good fuel efficiency. While this scooter hasn’t received any major update since its launch, Yamaha has been able to keep things a bit exciting through new variant launches. A few months ago, it launched the Fascino Darkknight edition which is all about new colour scheme.
The Fascino gets its power from an 113cc motor which produces 7bhp and 8.1Nm of torque and is mated to a CVT gearbox. This scooter rides on telescopic suspension at the front and a monoshock at rear. The braking duties are done by drum brakes at both ends with CBS. Unfortunately, the Fascino doesn’t get disc brake even as an option.
The Fascino goes against the Hero Maestro Edge and the Honda Activa 5G. However, it is more affordable than these two models. Unfortunately, Yamaha doesn’t have showroom reach as the Hero and the Honda, due to which it unable to get the required sales numbers.
