The 5th round of Asia Road Racing Championship has concluded at the MMRT race track in Chennai. Md Zaqhwan Zaidi won the race 1 of the premier SuperSports 600cc class, while Yuki Ito emerged victorious in the race 2.
The Asia Road Racing Championship was conducted at MMRT after a hiatus of four years. The fifth round had riders from Australia, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, China and India competing in three classes, with two races each. While Malaysian rider Md Zaqhwan Zaidi won the first race of the SuperSports 600cc class on Saturday, Yuki Ito from Japan inched past him in the 12th lap of race 2 to grab the top spot. Taiga Hada finished second in race 1 and third in race 2. In Asia Production 250cc category, Tomoyoshi Koyama from Japan finished first in race 1, while Indonesian rider Galang Hendra Pratama finished first in the race 2. The Underbone 150cc category races were won by Malaysian riders Fakhrusy Syakirin Rostam and And Azroy Hakeem Anuar.
The ARRC also witnessed the participation of three Indians - Sarath Kumar in SuperSports 600cc class, Sethu Rajiv in the Asia Production 250cc class and Prabhu Arunagiri in the Underbone 150cc class. Sarath finished 12th and 13th in the two races, while Prabhu finished 12th and 9th. Sethu finished 19th in the race 1 and crashed out of the 2nd race. As for the support races, Amit Richard Topno finished first in Honda CBR250R one make race and Sivanesan S scored the top spot in TVS Apache 200 one make race. The final round of the ARRC will be hosted by Chang International Circuit, in Thailand, between December 2 and December 3.
