Indian Motorcycles had recently announced that the Chief Dark Horse was going to be unveiled in the US on February 13. However, our wait to get the first glimpse of the motorcycle has been cut short by a popular motorcycling website, which leaked the first few photos of the Chief Dark Horse in its entire glory.
The new Chief Dark Horse doesn’t look radically different from the original model, which was produced from 2010 to 2013. As the name indicates, the Chief Dark Horse gets a matte black paint scheme with the trademark ‘Chief’ logo adorning the fuel tank. The continuity of the all-black theme has been broken in a few places by chrome accents, which only increase the cruiser’s appeal.
The Chief Dark Horse employs the same 111 cubic inch or 1811cc ‘Thunder-Stroke’ engine, which is also used in the rest of the Chief cruiser range. The air-cooled 49-degree V-twin engine is rated at 139Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed transmission.
The Chief Dark Horse will be available with a host of all-black customization options, including a passenger seat. Reports suggest that the Chief Dark Horse will be priced around the USD 17,000 (Rs 10.54 lakh) mark, which means that we can expect it to retail in the Rs 25 lakh to Rs 27 lakh price bracket, in the Indian market.
