TVS has revealed that the fuel injected version of the Apache RTR 200 4V will be priced at Rs 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This model will also be available with an optional ABS system, which will further add Rs 7,000 to the price of the motorcycle.
The fuel injected TVS Apache RTR 200 4V shares all of its mechanicals with the carburetted version, apart from the fuelling mechanism. This model employs a Bosch-sourced fuel injection system, which should improve the motorcycle’s refinement and engine response. This version is also marginally more powerful, with the 198cc single-cylinder engine churning out 21bhp and 18Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Cosmetically, we can expect the fuel injected TVS Apache RTR 200 4V to be identical to the carburetted model, save the few ‘FI’ stickers. Apart from ABS, TVS will also offer stickier Pirelli tyres as optional extras. With the more expensive KTM Duke 200 being its closest competitor, the fuel injected Apache RTR 200 4V will carve its own niche in the Indian market. The fuel injected version is expected to go on sale by March 2016.
As the performance gains of the fuel injected version over the carburetted one on paper are negligible, the extra Rs 19,000 premium that this model costs might seem like a steep price to pay. Stay tuned to BikeWale for a first ride review of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
