- India-spec 4XX revealed through teaser images
- To use a single-cylinder engine
- Launch details unavailable yet
Harley-Davidson India gave the first glimpse of its upcoming motorcycle, currently codenamed 4XX ahead of its launch in our market. This new motorcycle, which has been developed along with Hero MotoCorp, is noticeably different from the global-spec X350. Previously, we brought you the images released by the brand along with the expected specifications of the motorcycle. Here, we compare the India-spec Harley-Davidson 4XX with the X350 to list the key differences between the two motorcycles.
Engine Specifications
The biggest difference between the two models is their respective engine configurations. The international-spec X350 is powered by a 353cc, parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes a maximum output of 36.2bhp and a peak torque of 31Nm. The mechanical specifications on the Made-in-India Harley-Davidson, on the other hand, are not available yet. However, the teaser images reveal that this motorcycle will use a single-cylinder engine. The displacement and output figures are yet to be announced. However, given the “4XX” badge on the motorcycle in the teaser images, we expect the displacement to be around 400-450cc. The picture of the instrument cluster confirms that the India-spec 4XX will redline at 8,000rpm.
Styling Difference
At first glance, the styling on both motorcycles looks similar and they feature a Harley-Davidson XR1200-inspired design. Thus, both motorcycles feature a round headlight, a round instrument cluster, a flat handlebar, round-shaped rear-view mirrors, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank with angular edges, and a stubby tail section. However, unlike the X350, the India-spec Harley-Davidson 4XX features a centrally-mounted instrument cluster, a stylish design for the alloy wheels, and a round shape for the turn indicators.
Hardware
The hardware on both motorcycles is noticeably different, and the India-spec 4XX uses twin rear springs instead of a monoshock on the international-spec X350. Meanwhile, the suspension hardware at the front on both motorcycles includes upside-down front forks. Further, while both products use disc brakes, the India-spec model uses conventional discs instead of petal-type units on the Harley-Davidson X350. Meanwhile, the feature list on both motorcycles comprises full-LED lighting and a digital instrument cluster. Further, the India-spec 4XX will come standard with ABS to comply with the safety norms in the country.
