- Electric vehicle charging station search option added
- Show navigation, images and operation timing of the charging station
- Specific information like type of charging plugs not available
The biggest concern faced while using any kind of electric vehicle is the range anxiety that comes along with it. The last thing you want is to be stranded mid journey with a drained out battery. While the government is yet to implement a sustainable infrastructure for electric vehicles, Google Maps has added a new search option that searches for the nearest EV charging station in the vicinity. Although this feature might not resolve the entire issue of range anxiety, it surely provides an option that one can consider when the battery charge is on the lower side.
On simply searching the phrase ‘charging station’, the app will provide a list of options along with navigation, photo of the charging station, the operating time and also reviews posted by other users who have visited the place. However, the only limitation over here is the ambiguity on the type of socket plugs available at the charging station and the user will have to personally visit the charging station or contact the personnel to find out regarding the same. A new feature which lets the user know about the type of socket plugs available has been introduced in the US and it is expected to make its way to India as well at a later date.
