Gujarat Police has just taken the delivery of six customised Harley-Davidson Street 750. The motorcycles that have been specially designed for the Gujarat Police will be put in service immediately.
This is the first time in India, where a state agency has bought premium motorcycles to be used as a part of their daily activities. The customised Street 750 will used primarily for quick response actions by the police department, including the escort of senior ministers and visiting dignitaries and emergency response as part of a natural disaster response team.
“We are proud to add these Harley-Davidson Street 750 motorcycles to the Gujrat Police arsenal. The Street 750 not only addresses the police department’s need of a performance motorcycle in challenging situations but also provides great confidence and manoeuvrability in urban conditions,” said Pranav Nanda, dealer principal, Nine Bridges Harley-Davidson.
Lots of Harley-Davidson motorcycles are used as police vehicles in United States. In India, the Street 750 is the most affordable Harley- Davidson and it is really a good choice by the Gujarat government. This bike is easy to ride in traffic and due to its low seat height, short riders won't have a problem riding it. While it is good to see Gujarat Police using such premium bikes in their daily operations, it will be interesting to see if the bikes will be serviced on time. Government agencies across India are known to buy expensive things but fail to keep it well maintained.
