Guy Martin has become the subject of another ill-fated crash at the Dunrod 150 superbike race. Though the injuries are not life threatening, this crash left the 33-year old bedridden and unfit to race at the 2015 Ulster Grand Prix.
Guy Martin was leading the superbike class race till the sixth lap, when he lost control of his bike after a high-speed left hander at the Ireland's section of the Co Antrim circuit. Martin’s Tyco BMW high-sided violently tossing him off the bike and headed right towards a tree. Fortunately, Martin narrowly missed the tree after hitting the foam barrier, as he continued to skid and tumble in the field besides the race track.
The crash led to the race being red flagged. Martin suffered broken ribs, sternum and vertebrae as a result of the crash. He underwent back surgery on Friday, and is reported to be recovering well. The Dunrod 150 superbike class was eventually won by Kiwi rider Bruce Anstey, when it was conducted again on Friday.
