Harley Davidson is planning to discontinue six motorcycles from its 2014 line-up according to a leaked memo that was sent out to company’s dealers ahead of their annual convention. The company is planning to drop out the XR1200X Sportster, the FXS Softail Blackline and the FLHTC Electra Glide due to decline in sales. Whereas the FLHRC Road King Classic will be discontinued in North America and the FLHR Road king will no longer will be available in other international markets.
The company claims that they are heading to this development to optimise the number of choices available, reduce product overlap, reflect marketplace dynamics and reduce model complexity in showrooms.
The FLTRX Road Glide Custom and the FLTRU Road Glide Ultra tourer won’t be available in 2014 as both of these models will be redesigned as well as their manufacturing process will go through an update. Out of all these proposed models which will be discontinued, FLHR Road King is the only motorcycle that is available in India and there may be a possibility of this model being discontinued in India also.
