- Harley’s social media post hints at new colours for the X440
- Could get a new chrome-finished logo
- Mechanical specifications likely to remain unchanged
Harley-Davidson is expected to launch new colour options for the X440 tomorrow, 21 August, as per one of its recent social media posts. The post mentions ‘new shades’ while the ‘Harley-Davidson X440’ badge on the fuel tank seems finished in chrome, unlike the existing colours that have a black badge. Depending on the nature of cosmetic changes, these new shades might also demand some premium over the existing trims of the X440. As of now, it is available in four colours – Mustard Denim, Metallic Thick Red, Metallic Dark Silver, and Matte Black with prices starting from Rs. 2.39 lakh, ex-showroom.
The X440 is likely to remain unchanged in terms of specifications. Powering the motorcycle is a 440cc, air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 27bhp and 38Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. Underpinned by a trellis frame, it rides on 18-17-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by KYD upside-down forks and a monoshock. The most affordable variant makes do with spoke wheels. Braking duties are handled by a single disc at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
The design of the X440 is inspired by the Harley-Davidson XR1200 of the bygone era and it looks quite distinctive. The instrumentation setup comprises a round fully digital console which displays a host of data. Further, the top-end trim offers Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. The lighting setup is full LED, the fuel tank capacity is 13.5 litres, the kerb weight is 190.5kg, and the seat height is accessible for the majority at 805mm.
The Harley-Davidson X440 mainly compete against the likes of the Triumph Speed 400 and the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450.
