Harley-Davidson will officially unveil the Street 750 and the Custom Street Concept at the upcoming 2014 India Bike Week (IBW) rather than the 2014 Auto Expo in February. The second edition of the IBW is slated to be held in Goa, next year on January 17 and 18.
The Street 750 and Street 500 are bikes that have been developed on a new platform (first time in 14 years) by the iconic American motorcycle maker and will be targeted at a younger set of buyers as well as emerging markets. USA, Italy, Spain, Portugal and of course India will be the first to get these bikes once they are launched. However, India will only get the Street 750 with the Street 500 being an export-only model from HD’s plant in Bawal, Haryana.
The America manufacturer saw the potential of the country’s premium motorcycle segment and was the first one to set up a CKD plant where they assemble most of the highest selling models. For the Street 750 and the Street 500, it will be sourcing many parts from within the country, making it easier for them to keep costs in check. However, we have to wait and watch as to how the world will perceive a global product that has been manufactured in India. Quality is one main aspect that will play a very important role for the success of these new models.
We will be there at the 2014 India Bike Week to get you details of the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and Custom Street Concept unveiling. Stay tuned to BikeWale.
