It is a well-known fact that Harley-Davidson has been working on its smallest motorcycle for a while. And it will be built in partnership with Chinese manufacturer Qianjiang. Now, with spy shots of the QJ SRV 300 surfacing on the internet, we know that the Harley-Davidson 300cc cruiser is closer to reality than we expected. So here we tell you all that we know about the upcoming motorcycle so far.
Sportster-inspired styling
Going by the spy images, we know the QJ SRV 300 or the 300cc Harley-Davidson takes styling inspiration from the Iron 883. It gets a circular headlamp, a distinctive peanut-shaped fuel tank, a single-piece seat, and a chopped fender. Even the design of the side panels and bodywork at the rear seem to be inspired by the Iron 883. To further complement the Sportster styling, the motorcycle features a blacked-out look.
A V-twin engine
Harleys and V-twins have always been synonymous with each other and the upcoming 300cc cruiser is no different. Leaked type-approval documents reveal that the motorcycle is powered by a 296cc, V-twin engine that churns out 30bhp of power and has a claimed top-speed of 129kmph. The documents also revealed that the bike would tip the scale at 163kg.
Cycle parts
The Harley-Davidson 300cc cruiser is expected to ride on a 16-15 wheel combination that is suspended by upside-down forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear. Meanwhile, we can see that it gets a single disc brake at both ends and is likely to come with a dual-channel ABS as standard.
Features
As for features, we know the motorcycle will come with full-LED lighting for the headlamp, tail lamp and turn signals. It could also sport a semi-digital instrument cluster in a layout similar to what the Iron 883 gets.
India launch timeline
The motorcycle is likely to be globally introduced as the QJ SRV 300 in China before being launched as a Harley-Davidson badged motorcycle. It could also see a few changes to set it apart from its Chinese counterpart. Nevertheless, we can expect Harley-Davidson to launch this 300cc motorcycle in India on priority as the country has a huge market for cruisers. It would go up against the Honda CB350, Royal Enfield Meteor and Classic 350 as well as the Benelli Imperiale 400.
