Harley-Davidson will soon be making a foray into the adventure touring segment with the Pan America 1250. The motorcycle is based on a brand new platform which will also spawn a 1250cc cruiser and a 975cc streetfighter.
Harley-Davidson has given us the first glimpse at the Pan America 1250 by releasing a few photos of the prototype. They preview a high-riding motorcycle with a fairing drawing inspiration from the Road Glide. It gets all the characteristic adventure bike cues like spoke wheels with knobby tyres, upswept exhaust, bash plate, tall windscreen and barkbusters. At its heart is a 1250cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine. It rides on inverted front forks and a rear monoshock linked to a die-cast swingarm.
However, Harley-Davidson stopped short of revealing technical details about the Pan American 1250. It will go on sale in 2020, which means we can expect to see the final production model before the end of next year. It will compete against the Ducati Multistrada 1260 and the BMW R 1200 GS.
