As we told you before, Harley-Davidson is on the brink of revealing an all-new engine which will be only the eighth generation of the V-twin design in the company’s 102-year history. There is no confirmation about this new engine as yet, but, with Harley’s new invitation we feel traction control could also be part of the 2017 feature list.
According to the rumours, the new engine is understood to be called the 'Milwaukee-Eight 107', a name trademarked by Harley in 2014. The ‘Eight’ is believed to point to the V-twin having four valves per cylinder, to help it meet new emission limits, while '107' refers to the capacity in cubic inches, equivalent to 1753cc.
So where is the mention of traction control? The indicator comes in the invitation to the media to attend the launch of the 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle range in Seattle. The words “more control” are accompanied by “more power” and “better handling” to indicate the technological updates to be featured on the 2017 range.
Cruisers from competition like Ducati and Moto Guzzi feature advanced levels of traction control. Which means, Harley will most likely have to go against their traditional old school approach and offer traction control, which is considered as a basic safety feature in these times.
