The ongoing Harley Rock Riders Season VI is hosting a custom bike build-off competition, featuring five custom motorcycle houses from India. Being judged by Kaichiro Kurosu, the head of Japan's biggest custom motorcycle shop – Cherry's Company, this competition has some of the most interesting customised Harley-Davidson bikes portrayed as work of art, from across the country. Here is the first of the two-part photo gallery, straight from Mumbai -
Motomiu Sabertooth
With the Harley-Davidson Forty Eight as the base, Mumbai-based Motomiu has transformed this Sportster model into a neo-retro cafe racer.
The rear section of the single-seater Sabretooth ends with a tapering cowl, which spells out the bike's moniker.
The Sabretooth's tank has been sculpted in traditional cafe racer style, complete with the a custom fuel tank lid bearing the Motomiu's logo.
The oval headlamp sits between the exposed WP suspension forks of the Sabretooth, sourced from the KTM Duke.
The foot pegs and the levers are a piece of art by themselves. The engine case gets a matt black and gold paint scheme and also bears Motomiu's logo.
The Sabretooth gets a custom air-intake system with a partially exposed air filter, right between the engine and fuel tank.
Powering the Sabretooth is the stock 1200cc air-cooled V-twin engine, which gets a custom built two into one exhaust system.
The side panels, with their classical shape, numbering and punched holes, enhance the retro appeal of the Sabretooth.
EIMOR Highway To Hell
The Highway To Hell is Hybderabad-based custom builders - East India Motorcycle Revolution's (EIMOR), take on the Street 750.
What was supposed to be a sporty and barebones entry-level cruiser, has been transformed by EIMOR into a fully-loaded mile muncher.
The fuel tank gets a satanic paint job with pin stripes. The music system's speakers are mounted on the high-set custom made handlebar.
The fairing blends in with the Street 750's stock headlamp and has been painted in red, in tune with the rest of the motorcycle.
While custom motorcycles sacrifice comfort in favour of form, the Highway To Hell gets a very cosy black leather seat with contrasting red stitching.
