Harley-Davidson recently launched the Forty-Eight Special and Street Glide Special in India. At the same time, the company also announced that it will introduce the 2019 Electra Glide Standard in our country. The motorcycle was unveiled by Harley last week while it is scheduled to come to our shores by the end of this year. In US, it has been priced at USD 18,999 which is approximately Rs 13.31 lakhs.
The Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Standard is a tourer and it gets several elements which make it look like one. The bike features a round headlamp which is surrounded by a large batwing fairing for wind blast resistance. Behind this fairing is an analogue instrument cluster which sits above a glove box. The latter, along with the large saddlebags, raise its utility quotient. Moreover, giving it a classic appeal are several chromed parts such as the suspension, engine, exhaust, handlebar and mirror.
Powering the Electra Glide Standard is a 1745cc, Milwaukee Eight, 107 engine which churns out a healthy 150Nm of torque at 3250rpm. On the feature front, it gets minimal electronics which is limited to cruise control and ABS as Harley aims to give the rider a raw touring experience. As for the cycle parts, brakes are sourced by Brembo while the suspension duties are handled by Showa dual bending valve for the front and hand-adjustable emulsion-technology shock for the rear.
In India, the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Standard will lock horns with other tourers such as the Indian Chief Vintage and the BMW R1200 RT.
