Harley-Davidson has launched the Forty-Eight Special in India at Rs 10.98 lakhs (ex-showroom). The motorcycle is based on the standard Forty-Eight which is already available in India. However, this model features a few distinctions over the standard bike in order to justify the ‘Special’ suffix. In that case, let’s ogle at the pictures of the Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Special.
The motorcycle belongs to the American bikemaker’s Sportster family and depicts a modern-classic look with a combination of chrome and blacked-out components.
Harley-Davidson offers the Forty-Eight Special in three paint schemes which include Vivid Black, Wicked Red and Billiard White.
The motorcycle gets several aesthetic differences over the standard bike and the most prominent one is the inclusion of an ape-hanger handlebar.
Moreover, the peanut-shaped fuel tank (7.9 litres) of the Special version gets 70’s-inspired striped decals as opposed to the tank of the standard which just gets a brand logo.
The Forty-Eight Special gets chromed crankcase and blacked-out cylinder head covers while on the standard model, it’s vice-versa.
The motorcycle gets a single seat unit which has a scooped design. It not only adds to the comfort but also blends with the overall design.
Powering the bike is a 1202cc, V-twin, air-cooled, ‘Evolution’ engine which belts out 96Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. It comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Riding on 16-inch cast aluminium alloy wheels, the Forty-Eight Special comes shod with chunky Michelin tyres which lend it quite a road presence.
Considering the styling and purpose of the Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Special, it goes up against the Indian Scout Bobber and the Triumph Bonneville Bobber.
