Harley-Davidson is scheduled to launch the Forty-Eight Special in India on 14 March. Here's what you can expect from the American manufacturer's upcoming motorcycle.
Design and Features
The Forty-Eight Special is part of Harley-Davidson's 'Sportster' family. The bike apart from its name, also shares most of its underpinnings with the standard Forty-Eight. The bike exudes a retro appeal includes a distinctive peanut-shaped tank and chunky tyres along with a blend of black and chrome components. However, the Forty-Eight Special gets three 70s custom-inspired graphics on the tank and ape-handlebars to complete its appeal. It also sports a different seat that further sets it apart from the standard version.
Engine
The Forty-Eight Special uses the same 1202cc, V-twin motor that powers the standard Forty-Eight. This unit produces 96Nm of torque and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. The bike offers a 7.9 litre fuel tank and tips the scales at 256kg.
Cycle Parts
The Forty-Eight Special rides on blacked-out wheels wrapped in chunky tyres both front and rear that add to its overall character. Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic front forks and twin-shocks at the rear. Meanwhile braking is done by disc brakes at both ends. Apart from ABS, the Forty-Eight Special does not come equipped with electronic aids.
Pricing
Harley-Davidson retails the standard Forty-Eight at Rs 11.04 lakhs (ex-showroom,Mumbai). Considering the changes the Forty-Eight Special gets, we can expect it to retail around Rs 25,000-Rs 30,000 over the former.
