Harley-Davidson India has issued a recall for the Dyna and Softail motorcycles over faulty brakes. The exact number of units are not known, but it is part of the global recall where the company has recalled over 19,000 units in US.
In the US, the recall notice is for motorcycles that have been manufactured between August 22nd, 2011 and February 24, 2012. According to the American manufacturer, the threads for the brake line banjo bolt in the front brake master cylinder may corrode, causing a sudden loss of brake fluid, which would may result in a loss of the front brake system. Harley-Davidson announced that it will notify affected customers and will ask the bikes to be brought to service centres. The dealer will flush and inspect the front brake master cylinder and if necessary, will replace the master cylinder free of cost.
"Harley-Davidson has voluntarily recalled a number of motorcycles belonging to the 2012 Dyna and Softail families. The company has identified that some of these motorcycles may have an issue pertaining to the front brake master cylinders. Harley-Davidson is committed to correcting this issue and we are working with our dealers in India to notify customers and request them to bring in their motorcycles for inspection," said Harley Davidson India.
