- Harley-Davidson Livewire specifications revealed
- The motor produces 103.5bhp and 116Nm
- Unlikely to be launched in India anytime soon
Harley-Davidson has finally revealed the full details of its first electric motorcycle, the Livewire.
The electric motorcycle uses Harley-Davidson’s ‘Revelation’ motor that produces 103.5bhp; making it the most powerful Harley yet. However, as compared to the manufacturer’s petrol-powered motorcycles, the Livewire’s torque figure stands at a humble 116Nm. And with this motor, the Livewire is capable of going from 0-100 in 3 seconds! The bike uses a 15.5kWh battery that takes 12.5 hours to charge although, with the optional fast charger, it can be done in an hour. On a full charge, the Livewire is said to offer a range of 235km in city riding, 113km on the highway and a cumulative range of 152km.
The Harley-Davidson Livewire rides on 17-inch wheels shod with Michelin Scorcher tyres. The suspension is handled by inverted front forks and fully adjustable monoshock at the rear; both sourced from Showa. On the other hand, braking is done by a 300mm disc up front and a 260mm disc at the rear. In terms of electronics, the Livewire comes with a 4.3-inch TFT screen that is Bluetooth enabled. The display can also provide turn-by-turn navigation, geo-location as well as a geo-fencing feature. Rider aids include a traction control system, 6-axis IMU-based ABS and seven ride modes-Sport, Rain, Road, Range along with three customisable modes.
Harley-Davidson has priced the Livewire at USD 29,799 (approx. Rs 20.5 lakhs). It faces competition from the Zero SR/F Premium which costs USD 23,219 (Rs 15.9 lakhs) and also produces 109bhp and a considerably higher 190Nm of torque. Now coming to the important bit, would it come to India?. Unfortunately not anytime soon as the country is still in the nascent stages having a full-fledged infrastructure for electric vehicles.
