Yesterday, it was a shot of the motorcycle from the sets of the upcoming Avengers movie (being ridden by a stunt double for Scarlett Johansson) and today pictures of the new and upcoming Harley –Davidson have been leaked ahead of what may be its official unveiling.
The motorcycle we saw in the spy pictures is pretty much what will be unveiled today. The Livewire as it is expected to be called will be powered by a three-phase induction motor that will produce around 55kW (around 74bhp) and 70Nm of torque. The recharge rate for the batteries has been pegged at 7kWh giving full charge time of close to eight hours.
While the motorcycle looks absolutely stunning and very V-rod (ish) its Achilles heel is the range of themotorcycle which is expected to be around 80km (a combination of city and highway driving). In terms of performance, the al- important 01-00kmph timing has been pegged at four seconds along with a top-speed of 148kmph.
Asphalt and Rubber who have published the pictures say that this is not a finished motorcycle, rather it is expected to be shown top various customers and based on feedback will make changes accordingly. They also say that such a move will allow then to gauge public perception about the bike and accordingly give them the freedom to decide if the project is worthy of pursuing in the future.
