-Harley-Davidson LiveWire makes debut in India
-To be launched in the country sometime soon
-Offers 142km range on a full charge
Harley-Davidson has taken the wraps off its first electric motorcycle, the LiveWire, in India.
The LiveWire which is already on sale in American and European markets will be launched in the country soon. The electric motorcycle comes powered by the ‘Revolution’ motor that produces 103.5bhp making it the most powerful Harley yet. On the other hand, the motor also pumps out 116Nm of torque, right from zero rpm! Using a 15.5kWh battery, the Livewire offers a total range of 142kms.
Harley-Davidson has kept the LiveWire true to its design roots by giving it a design language similar to the Sportster range. It gets a cowl that houses a full-LED headlamp and a Sportster-styled tank that sits above the new cast aluminium frame. And with mildly forward set handlebars and rear-set foot pegs, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire offers the rider a slightly bent forward riding posture.
In terms of features, the motorcycle comes well loaded. It sports a 4.3-inch TFT display that is Bluetooth enabled. The display also features turn-by-turn navigation and can show the exact location of the motorcycle. Moreover, it can also set up a geofence that alerts the user if the motorcycle has entered or gone beyond a pre-set geographic perimeter. The LiveWire’s electronic rider aids consist of a six-axis IMU, traction control system and a ‘Drag-Torque Slip Control System’ or DSCS that essentially modulates the torque output at the wheel.
Harley-Davidson will offer the LiveWire in three colour schemes- Vivid Black, Orange Fuse and Yellow Fuse. We can expect the American manufacturer to launch the motorcycle in India by the end of this year.
