Harley-Davidson has issued a recall covering 14 different models due to a potential issue with the motorcycle’s clutch. According to the report there are 27,232 units that have been affected across the American motorcycle manufacturer’s range.
The company analysis showed that the process changes may not have eliminated the problem on a number of motorcycles produced between July 2015 and the end of March. If the clutch cannot be fully disengaged when the engine is running and the motorcycle in gear, the motorcycle may move unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash. Motorcycles built after April 1 were constructed with clutch master cylinders that have been washed with an ultrasonic washing process to eliminate the issue.
The recall includes certain model year 2016 Electra Glide Ultra Classic, Electra Glide Ultra Classic Low, Ultra Limited Low, Ultra Limited, CVO Street Glide, Street Glide, Street Glide Special, Road Glide Special, Road Glide, Police Electra Glide, Road Glide Ultra, Fat Boy S, Softail Slim S, and CVO Softail Pro Street Breakout motorcycles.
Riders of affected vehicles may notice a large amount of free play in the clutch lever when they first engage the clutch after the bike’s being parked for a long period of time. There is no news yet regarding India bikes being affected. Stay tuned to BikeWale for more updates.
