Harley-Davidson has issued a recall for 4,688 units of the FLS Softail motorcycles in US over an issue with the indicators. The motorcycles involved in the recall were manufactured between March 25, 2013 and October 2, 2014.
The company has said that the lamp-outage detection indicator could stop working, causing the front turn signal to fail. If the rider is not aware that the front signal has failed, the lack of signalling could potentially cause an accident. Harley Davidson will begin notifying owners of the affected bikes and will service them for no charge at dealerships. Those who are concerned about the issue or who are having trouble with the signal can also contact Harley directly for additional help.
This recall notice does not affect the Indian models as Harley-Davidson assembles the Softail motorcycles in their Gurgaon facility. While globally the American manufacturer has issued few recalls for its motorcycles in 2014, the Indian models remains untouched.
